Komatke Programs & Activities
Cooking Class
The kids learn how to set a table, table manners, kitchen safety and more. They learn how to make snacks, breakfast, lunch, and a full course dinner. At the end of the classes the kids invite their parents and the class cooks a meal for them. The classes are held in the fall.
Beading Class
The kids get to do hands on bead work making necklace lanyards for different businesses that request the beautiful necklaces. The businesses donate funds at the end of the classes for field trips and program supplies. These classes are scheduled periodically and last approximately eight weeks.
Race Against Drugs Program
The RAD Stay on Track curriculum provides Club members with the skills they need to resist drug use. The curriculum consists of twelve lessons implemented by trained staff members. Lesson topics include decision making, goal setting, communication, health and fitness, and understanding external influences such as media campaigns, and peer pressure. The lessons are fun and age appropriate and include field trips to Phoenix International Speedway and NASCAR in Atlanta, Georgia.
Homework Help / Power Hour:
Every Club member at our Branch participates in Power Hour. As Club members enter the building, kids come in and get their homework done right away. We will commit time, space and staff to Club members for as long as they have homework to do.
